Gentlemen, As all of you know, there is a real threat to the start of this NFL season. Any thoughts on this? Personally, I feel that Roger Goodell and the NY based NFL executives bear the brunt of this responsibility. He doesn't speak for the owners or the players on this issue but it was looming on the horizon even last year. You don't need an MBA to figure out that something should have been done beforehand. The season should not be in jeopardy. Communication, coordination, and most of all Leadership has been lacking from Goodell's office.Way to go, Roger! Pete Rozell would be so proud of you. Ruther

it will come down to the "last second", so that each side gets most of what it wants. "the last second" for owners is to save the preseason ($$$), "the last second" for players is the regular season, when checks start coming each week. So I expect it done sometime in July, to allow for a quick free agency period, a week or two of camp, and 2 or 4 preseason games. Worry not.

I don't give a crap if there is a football season or not! :P The owners own the teams, they can do whatever they want as far Bobo is concerned. :P The NFL comissioner and his lackeys are the overpaid football equivalent to government bureaucrats. ;)

Gentlemen, I remain skeptical although hopeful a deal can be brokered in time to start the season. At the very least, in a real business sense. Roger Goodell has done a disservice to the NFL and their fans. His leadership style lacks vision and basic mediation skills. He could see this crisis looming in the horizon and yet could not even bring both sides to the table early enough and present the consequences in a manner that would motivate both sides to " deal " for the Fans that made them what they are.Rps. Congratulations to Tom Brady for being the Players #1 pick as the Top Player of 2010-2011 season. I would have given it to A. Rodgers for winning the ring, but that's me.

Bob, I distinctly remember a couple of posts where you would praise Brady. Criticize Bellichick for sure but praised Brady. Maybe, some of that ire is misplaced.R

What have you been smoking, R? I have posted numerous "Brady Sucks" posts. Brady's coach this, coach that crap makes me wanna puke. If you think Brady didn't know about the cheating you've got rocks in your head. He's the GD quarterback. He runs the offence. He was the major recipient of the cheating. And he kept his mouth shut. He is a disgrace to football. Just as A-Rod is a disgrace to baseball. And A-Rod was once my favorite player. He was what appeared to be one of the greatest hitters of all time. Now we'll never know, because he took himself out of the conversation. And you know how much I love the Yankees! Same goes for Tom Brady. Cheaters are cheaters. Doesn't matter what the team is. They are all pond scum. ;) I'll pretend to be a progressive and say, they are imperfect people, we all are, everyone makes mistakes. blah, blah, blah! :P :P  Check out this link.

Right, right. Don't let me catch you with a Brady jersey on, mate. You are a Connecticut man, after all. I would ask Markus to help me look through the archives to find these posts but it doesn't matter. Although, I believe the " spirit " of one of your posts was something to the effect of Brady being the " Best " player on a team unworthy of him. ( That would include the coach, btw. ) All in all, my friend. You think he currently is cheating, yea?... I think that is highly unlikely. But, if you can prove it then I will buy you 2 rounds of beer when I visit Colorado instead of 1. Jim can be the mature one and shake his head at our seemingly juvenile bets. Food for thought, Bob. Brady might have another career season and win the MVP. Rps. Maize and Blue, through and through. ( There is talk and then there is action. Don't be surprised if I pull a sudden Presidential visit on you guys. )

Did you not read my last post? Sheesh! One more time. I have never praised Brady. Before the cheating came out, I liked Peyton Manning way better than Brady. Still do. I think Manning is way better. If Brady and Coach are still cheating is irrelevant. Same as asking if I think A-Rod is still cheating. It doesn't matter. They cheated, got caught, dirtied the game. A-Rod admitted he took PED's when he got caught. So his records don't really count. They get an asterik. Did you see me post here when A-Rod hit his 600th home run? I didn't say anything because it doesn't mean anything. And he was my favorite player. I really felt badly about the A-Rod PED thing. And I didn't have an ax to grind about Tom Brady. Since Elway retired I really haven't been much of a football fan. But when spygate came out and Brady dummied up I lost all respect for him. Good lord, they actually used the everybody does it defense. He never admitted to cheating which makes the actual cheating way worse. He is a scum bag. Like Barry bonds, one of the greatest hitters of all time, and Roger Clemens, one of the greatest pitchers of all time. They both extended their careers by cheating, and will both probably deny it until their last breath. And so will Brady. I loved both of those guys as young players. And neither were Yankees. Well Clemens was later, but I consider him a great Red Sox Player. That's when he was great and hopefully clean. I love watching great players. Red Sox are our arch rivals. But I love Dustin Pedroia. The Yankees have Robinson Cano at second base, a supremely gifted athlete. The book on him before last season though was that he was lazy and had an attitude problem. Pedroia is not at all a supremely gifted athlete, but what he does with the ability that he has is really quite astounding. So I love watching him play. He has a heart bigger than Massachusetts! My favorite baseball player of all time is Mickey Mantle, but Ted Williams, a Red Sox, is on my short list. What I'm saying here is that I'm a big fan of integrity. I'm not partisan about that. If you clicked on the link in my last post and listened to Matt & Trey what they are saying is in alignment with my viewpoint. ;) I don't have amnesia! For me, spygate never blew over. Hell, Chappaquiddick never blew over for me. I was a big Bobby Kennedy fan. Never felt the same way about Teddy, but I thought, maybe! So he is a catholic cheating on his wife (big sin) gets drunk, drives his car off a bridge, his date drowns, he swims to the mainland, checks into a hotel to sleep off his drunk, doesn't report anything 'til the next morning before he has all of his ducks in a row, to save his political career. The man was pond scum! And guess what. He got away with it. Not only did he not go to jail, but he was relected as MA senator by the brain dead populace of Massachusetts. You can see where I'm going with this. :P So I won't, as not to offend our Patriot fan. :D Please don't ever mention Tom Brady again, or you will hear from Bobo, and it won't be pretty! :P If Tom Brady owns up to the cheating and insists that the 3 Super Bowl wins don't count and neither do any of his records, I will personally congratulate him. ;)

Teddy Kennedy, RIP, was voted into office, again and again, because he brought home lots of bacon to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Many conservatives were reluctant to vote in a freshman Republican to take the place of the VERY powerful and influential Teddy K. Bottom line.Excuse me, but are we discussing Tom Brady? The same guy who was voted by his peers, the NFL players, as the #1 player in the game today? Ok, just making sure. If the players thought he was a cheater, they wouldn't have put him at #1. Bottom line #2.

Like I said in my post, I am a big fan of integrity. "Bringing home the bacon" is a pretty sorry excuse to look the other way. Ted Kennedy was an alcoholic dirt bag. It's like some guy has been screwing his daughter since she was 6 years old and the whole family knows about it, but they look the other way because daddy brings home the bacon. R brought up Tom Brady and I responded. I don't give a crap what the the NFL players think. A huge number of them are themselves cheaters. (juiced) They probably are using the suspension of disbelief device, like when one watches a movie. They want to believe that Brady didn't cheat so they can enjoy the illusion of integrity! ;) :P :P

Perhaps. Many people are alcoholics. He had a lot of tragedy in his life, and alcohol was probably a crutch he used to get by. He has a big following here. More so now since he has passed on. He did a lot of good in his lifetime, too. My favorite Teddy story comes from his eldest son. He was diagnosed with bone cancer in his right leg when he was 12. He had to have his leg amputated. That winter, he was outside after a snow storm, trying to get up the hill to sled down. He kept falling flat on his face and sliding back down to the bottom. He began to cry, and his father Teddy came over to talk to him. "I'm never going to get to the top. I can't do this" etc etc he told his dad. Teddy held him, looked him straight in the eye, and told him that he was going to get to the top of the hill, and that he'd stay out here all night if he had to until he had. He told him that just because he had one leg that there wasn't anything he couldn't do. Teddy Jr got to the top of the hill that day and sled down with his dad. Thanks Teddy for the bacon. Universities, hospitals, infrastructure, etc.

I am 100% against raising the debt ceiling. Not raising the debt ceiling will force our scumbag politicians to cut spending. About 40%! That's not enough, but it would be a good start. This debt ceiling stuff is a load of crap. The lies directed at a mostly ignorant populace are huge. You are being conned again with chicken little nonsense! ;)

Robert Kraft made that statement. Not me. Lol. In fact, now I am adding texture to my personal research on Ludwig Von Mises work. So, I have academia in the form of his writings to support the call to End the Fed. R

Bobo- Im sure that R could tell you this 100 times better/more effectively than I can. The US government cannot and will not default on their loans. Therefore, the debt ceiling will be raised. Agreements on spending cuts, entitlements, tax loop closures, etc can come later. The debt ceiling will be raised come hell or high water before Aug. 2nd. You can take that to the bank, my lock of the decade.Football. The Patriots traded for Albert Haynesworth. ;) :P The Jets might sign the Raiders CB (name here), and have the #1 and #2 CBs in the league on there flanks. (Good way to stop Brady, but alas Touchdown Tommy will go to his TEs and RBs. ) The Lions defensive line is going to be nasty. The Vikings want McNabb, Tavaris Jackson goes to Seattle, Brett Favre is talking to Philly. There's gonna be a whirlwind of activity for some time here. Free agents, cut big salary players, etc. Im just psyched that theres gonna be NFL football this fall. Great work gentlemen, all parties involved. Fair deal. Only thing that is lost is TV ratings for the Draft, and the 5th preseason game, the HOF game.

Only thing that is lost is TV ratings for the Draft, and the 5th preseason game, the HOF game.
The US will not default on loans if the debt ceiling is not raised. You are being conned. Here is a good explanation of the truth about the debt ceiling nonsense.http://blogs.marketwatch.com/fundmastery/2...ll-not-default/Most politicians do not want to cut spending at all. They are addicted to it. That's where their power comes from. Not raising the debt ceiling is a great way to force them to make serious cuts. The Aug 2 deadline is a made up scare tactic, nothing more. :P

Gentlemen: the best division in the NFL is... (nope, not the NFC East) is... the NFC North. Hands down.
